PAGEANT INFORMATION
History
Miss Art Deco Pageant is a traditional beauty pageant held in the state of Florida.
Art Deco is a defined as an influential visual arts design style which first appeared in France during the 1920's, flourished internationally during the 1930's and 1940's. The largest display of this architecture is in the historic district known internationally as South Beach under the preservation of Miami Design Preservation League since 1971 producing the annual celebration of Art Deco Weekend Festival on Miami Beach, Florida.
The first pageant originally began in 1994 as “Miss Art Deco Carnival Dore” as a fundraiser for League against Aids Foundation to raise preventive awareness since HIV and Aids were a huge epidemic during the 1990s. The competition was produced by International Makeup Artist Gabriel I. Noda of Gabriel Beauty Productions The event took place at LaScala Miami Concert Hall located inside the Four Ambassadors Hotel of Brickell Miami where 21 Miss contestants competed for the title. The first crowned winner was Barbara Ann Marino and the 4th runner up and now the pageant director, Fatima Coello. The official photographer that year was Baron Deparre of Baron's Visual Images.

Miss Art Deco 1994
In 2011 the pageant was re-established by Fatima Coello and registered in the state of Florida as “Miss Art Deco Beauty Pageant” produced by Beauty Touches Group Productions after over one decade.
In 2013 the pageant was successfully hosted added age divisions of “Teen” and “Jr Miss” with a prize package of advancing to the Miss Florida USA and Miss Florida Teen USA pageants. The pageant took place at the Pelican Playhouse Rebeca Sosa Theater in Miami Springs, FL
In 2015 the pageant added the division of “Ms.” to give opportunities to contestants that did not qualify in the “Miss” division and “International” for contestants that were non-U.S. citizens.
In 2017 the pageant was canceled by the directors due to a family emergency. However, there was a crowning ceremony for Teen and Miss held at Art Deco Welcome Center during Art Deco Weekends Retro Fashion Show where the previous runners up were crowned. It was the only year the representative was sent to compete at the Miss Grand United States National Pageant in held in New York City.
In 2018 the pageant changed the division of “Ms.” to “Ms. Woman” and also crowned it’s first ever Mrs. Art Deco for married women. The pageant took place again at the Pelican Playhouse Rebeca Sosa Theater in Miami Springs, FL.
It was the first year a delegate was sent to Miss Earth USA winning the national title in Washington D.C. That same year Miss Art Deco was appointed as Miss Intercontinental Cuba and represented Cuba at the 47th edition Miss Intercontinental competition held in Manila, Philippines.
In 2019 the pageant change venues and took place at Teatro de Bellas Artes in Little Havana combined with the launching of Miss Cuba U.S. Pageant as well as the title of Señorita Cuba. For more information you can visit www.misscubaus.com.
In 2020 the pageant was canceled again due to the epidemic of Covid 19 Coronavirus worldwide outbreak. However, there will be a crowning ceremony in the fall of 2020 for Teen and Miss set to represent the title for 2020-2021.
Mission
The purpose for this program is to maintain pageantry with the glamour, class and wholesomeness. The pageant strive to providing opportunities for young women to better themselves in gaining self-awareness, self-confidence, and individual pride, to improve their ability to communicate effectively, public speaking, and to stand up for what they believe in as well as beauty, fashion, and positive image. We encourage our contestants to find causes or issues they feel strongly about, and to become involved in those organizations that speak closest to their hearts. Each young lady who enters has different ideals and goals and strives hard in their personal quest for excellence. The pageant had relationship of advancements with well known international pageants such as Miss Universe, Miss Earth, Miss Grand International, Miss Intercontinental, and other competitions with first class productions.

RULES AND ELIGIBILTY
Eligibility for Miss Art Deco Pageant
*Delegate must be naturally born female
*Delegate must be at least the age of ten (10) and not older then the age of thirty (30) by the date of the Pageant
*Division breakdown - Ages 10 to 13 Jr. | Ages 14 to 18 for Teen | Ages 19 to 28 for Miss | Ages 25 to 35 for Ms. Woman
*Delegate must be a current resident of the State of Florida for the full period of at least six (3) months.
*Delegate is of good moral character, and has never been convicted of a crime.
*Delegate does not have any public display of nudity or obscenity in any Website and Social Media.
*Delegate must agree that if you win any title of the Miss Art Deco Pageant you will not participate in another Pageant during the reigning year unless authorized in writing by Miss Art Deco Pageant officials.
*Delegate must attend all rehearsals and events pertaining to the Miss Art Deco Pageant.
*Delegate must be willing to release, unconditionally and forever, any claim against Miss Art Deco Pageant, its affiliated or related companies and their respective officers, directors, partners, which they may have by virtue of their participation in their state pageant, or by any use of their name, likeness, voice, and/or biography in connection with the pageant, including use in promotional and advertising material.
*Delegate must understand and agree that all issues as to eligibility shall be determined by Miss Art Deco Pageant officials and they must agree to abide by that determination both as to themselves and other applicants.
Note: This pageant invites delegates of all race, color, ethnic or national origin, or religion with winning opportunity to the crown regardless of economic or social status.
JUDGING CRITERA
Areas of competition include; interviews, swimsuit and evening gown to determine finalists and winners. Whether you are a pageant veteran, love to perform on stage in front of an audience or just want the opportunity to try your hand in the world of pageantry-this is your pageant! During the pageant each contestant will compete in four phases of competition.
Areas of Competition
Panel Interview
Contestants must be able to express herself with confidence during interviews with the panel of judges prior to the pageant. The portion of this competition will be judged by a panel of judges and they are looking for a young lady who is poised and is an effective communicator.
Opening Number Dance
The opening dance number theme for this pageant will be “Art Deco Fashions.” All contestants will be required to wear attires representing the Fashion Era of Art Deco. This is for the opening number dance. Contestants are not required to know how to dance to in order to compete in the pageant. There will be prior rehearsals.
Opening Contestant Introductions
The opening contestant introductions is each contestants introduce themselves in front of an audience. This will be the first time to make a lasting impression with the judges!
Swimsuit Competition
The swimsuit competition demonstrates to the judges your commitment to a healthy, good physical tone, emotional & intellectual health, and active lifestyle as well as confidence. The swimsuits are provided by the swimsuit sponsor
Evening Gown Competition
Miss Art Deco Titleholders must carry herself with dignity, grace, poise and elegance. Judges will judge overall the gown selection and how well the contestant carry the gown as well as the on-stage presentation. This is your moment in the spotlight! Select a formal, long gown that shows off your sense of style and personality. Our official gown sponsor will be happy to assist you in the selection of a dress. Judges will be scoring you on poise, self-confidence, grace and elegance.
Onstage Interview Questions
Miss Art Deco Titleholders must be able to express herself with confidence. Contestants will be asked questions on stage. The questions will be submitted by the pageant directors. The portion of this competition will be judged by a panel of judges and they are looking for a young lady with the most confidence and poise.
